Sr M Agnes Sequeira BS (59) a member of Sacred Heart Convent, Ludhiana, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2013, in the 38th year of her religious life. She was suffering from multiple cancers and was being treated in Ludhiana.

She was brought to Mangalore as per her parents’ request on Friday, January 4. As her condition was not stable she was shifted to Fr Muller’s, Kankanady. Soon they moved her to MICU as her condition was deteriorating. Her parents were able to see and interact with her for a few moments in the intensive care unit.

Sr Agnes was born on 20.04.1953 to Henry and Stella Sequeira at Kateel in Mangalore. Her only sister, Anita, born after she entered the Congregation is married and settled in Mumbai. Sr Agnes joined Bethany Congregation in 1970. She has served in various communities at Sultanpur, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Karnal, Haus Khas, Mangalore, Maluka, Ramdas as Superior, social worker, teacher and Headmistress of English-Hindi-Punjabi medium schools. She was noted for her prayerfulness, commitment to duty, love for the poor and concern for the Sisters. Though she was suffering from prolapsed disc for the past 34 years she lived her life vibrantly and showed herself always young and energetic.

Her funeral rites will take place on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 9:00 am at Bethany Convent Chapel, Nanthoor, Mangalore.
