The Changing Face of Kudla
I was once a kid in a place of dreams that we call as “Kudla”,
Never did we know that this place had to change so much as seen today.
As kids we saw the bullock carts on the road, whose memory gradually faded with age,
The eagerly awaited Sunday man who sold candies and ice cream that were a treat to our eyes.
A distant memory awaits us that reminds us of different colours of the rainbow,
The joy of each colour had a story of its own that is now mostly replaced with new experience.
Simple people with warm hearts have been replaced by different models of vehicles.
Barely do we have the time to rethink our past as we are always in a hurry to reach our destination.
Interaction with people has been taken over by Facebook and that is where we all meet!!!
Malls have taken over the simplicity of shopping where we found pleasure in picking up the best.
Hypermarkets have paved their way promising fresh products but seldom do we realize that organic food has always been a part of our life.
As kids we loved to spend time playing outdoors but high rise buildings have knocked off this space.
Outdoor playing time has been taken over by the cozy corner of the home either replaced by TV or video games.
Achieving the heights is the ultimate objective of every parent, as if people from the older generation have been looking for pebbles!!!
I can’t stare at the stars at night because I don’t see them anymore,
Maybe the stars don’t have any friends down here as we are all busy staring at our Laptops!!!
Festival celebrated with detailed preparation is now just a formality that we want to be over with.
Oh! How I wish I walked back in time to the fun and glory that we all experienced.
My kids always feel nostalgic of my experience and try to re-live the experience,
But it’s sad for me that my kids have not witnessed this.
As kids we played with mud and pebbles, the land which is now scarce to find.
Simple pleasures of life seemed the whole world to me and now the whole world does not seem to fulfill our simple needs.
What a life that was, I wish I could travel back in time and experience all of it once again.
For I wish my very Kudla remains a pretty dream for me.
