Towards Healthy Living

November 4, 2013

“So many people spend their health gaining wealth, and then have to spend their wealth to regain their health.”

This is a well know quote stated by A.J. Reb Materi which reveals the truth of our negligence towards health while in the process of making money.

Today a lot of people are busy in securing their lives by making enough money. Luxurious and comfortable lifestyle has made a common man lazy. Consistent work without break has resulted in damage of their own health.

Stress, peer pressure, long working hours, depression, anxiety and many other mental and physical disorders at the workplace have worsened the condition of a common man.

Skipping morning breakfast, eating junk food, having sleepless nights have all been a reason in affecting one's day-to-day lifestyle.

Questions like why have we been so liberal towards our health, why aren’t we taking any steps to change these improper routine of ours, always rise in our minds. Even though we are aware of our daily routine, we do not find much time to undertake some serious activities.

However, to live a healthy lifestyle one must balance one's everyday life. So you need to start with some physical, mental and spiritual activities in order to bring a change in your life.

Physical activities like walking, cardio exercises, dance, aerobics, easy and simple exercises and many other activities that involve your body can keep you fit, improve your mood, combat chronic diseases and help you sleep better.  Even a healthy diet is also a key to fitness. Portioning your food correctly can do wonders. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar and this attitude will have an advantageous effect on your health.

A well planned diet food helps in providing all essential nutritional needs. Eating lots of veggies and fruits keeps you energetic for the entire day.

A healthy sleep ranging between 7-9 hours can help you repair your body, improve your memory and reduce stress.

15 minutes of meditation each day can also wipe away the day’s stress and bring with it inner peace.

Apart from these activities, leading a social life too influences our mental health. Good relationships can help in balancing our health. Significant people who care about you are needed to have a healthy lifestyle as well. Your best friend, spouse, children or having people you can share life with will always assist you on the road to a healthy lifestyle.

Good relationships bring good amount of joy, laughter and comfort in one’s life.

The moment you come across people whom you love and care a lot, you forget all your worries and get engaged with them completely. Exchange of smile with your colleagues, neighbours, and friends can refresh your mind and bring ease within.

Your greatest wealth is your health. Practice these steps in your day-to-day life and experience the change in your lifestyle and at your workplace. After all, a healthy lifestyle is a way of life.

I have shared my portion of knowledge towards a healthy living. So now it is your turn to overcome your laziness and start exercising for a better living.

    Divya Castelino,

In this article you have mentioned about Regular activities, vegetables and fruits.

You have failed to mention about calcium, Vitamin D, Vitamin B's, Protein, Amino Acids, and electrolytes.

Fats play a vital role in maintaining healthy skin and hair, insulating body organs against shock, maintaining body temperature, and promoting healthy cell function.

As you know Vegetables and fruits do not contain vitamin B12 which is important for the heart and the muscles. Vitamin B12 is a nutrient that helps keep the body's nerve and blood cells healthy and helps make DNA, the genetic material in all cells. Vitamin B12 also helps prevent a type of anemia called megaloblastic anemia that makes people tired and weak.

    Dear Divya...
'The moment you come across people you love'....Yes....sometimes in cases like mine...it crosses the limit and it has it's own repercussions...
For those overflowing with Love also it's hard if there's not many to share....Forget anticipation or reciprocation you should have this knack of 'distributing love' also...
    What do you say?

Divya vani, good food for thought, to spend which not bought
Nature is natural, Gods mighty work, for His creature pleasure
Health is wealth, an ignored fact till the wheels move smooth
Its uninterrupted support makes to run far and grab the most
Only recognized when life vehicle halts, for maintenance need
Entire wealth is lost, to make life run again, with health wealth
Wealth without health, life is very bitter, worse than poverty
