Social media has filled the society with restlessness and anxiety. Smartphones have become a very important materiel organ of the human body. I am talking about the use and misuse of anonymous and confidential sources which is a global phenomenon that has claimed much causality and taken a toll on public trust.
I recently visited a clinic for my regular check-up and was shocked to see many young children suffering due to smart phone addiction. My anxiety led me to a discussion with the doctor. He explained to me that cases are increasing in the recent past. This particular situation is uncontrollable and I feel empathy to parents and their state of mind.
Smartphones are becoming an integral part of lives of all ages worldwide. We cannot blame only the younger generation. Our continuous usage of phone with neck curvature has resulted to a new name in medical terms as ‘Text-Neck’. Number of posture related illnesses are increasing day-by-day. There are several articles emerging from printed media and social network. Best is to limit the access of smartphone for a specific duration. Engrossing through the phone throughout the day will definitely have adverse effect on our bodies. I have personally faced several health related issues by using smart phones, especially using them in the night before sleeping. It starts from reading posts of sadness to happiness and sometime ending with anger. Our subconscious mind will store and play it during our sleep in a different manner. Since our subconscious mind never sleeps, it results in incomplete sleep, restlessness and fatigue in the day time.
Several unwanted messages are dumped by others on social media without knowing the fact and reality of the same. There is a serious issue to be taught to the young and adult to be choosy about on what to and what not to react. Ignoring is the best solution than forwarding it to someone again. Nowadays, hatred is spreading quite fast due to unwanted messages created and circulated to induce confusion among us. Many giant industries are keeping an IT cell just to create nuisance and spread wrong information. Many believe and spread it to millions without knowing the consequences. Free speech is being twisted by a much forked tongue that wants the cake and wants to eat it too.
Our thinking has become so short, like two minutes Maggie noodles or like fast food. Humanities, social sciences, philosophy are finding it difficult to cope with this. We are not committed to take truth seriously. We are not interested in finding out truth. The compression of intellectual capability replaces reflective thinking. You do not feel bored because you enjoy.
You cannot allow these to think for you. You are not stable. You do not take a pause, but are always rushing. You create fear, insecurity and uncertainty. Let us see each other face to face rather than facebook. Face to face is important.
There are no secrets any more as everything is conveyed within minutes worldwide with the help of digital social media. The receiver will transform the same to other without analyzing the pros and cons.
Companies are opting digital marketing and sales where actual touch and feel mechanism is diminishing. By opting smart solutions and reducing human interaction, all are digitally connected. They are also geographically connected by all search engines as it is an open market and sales. Due to this, laziness of human beings has reached its pinnacle.
On the other hand, there are some advantages too. I recently opted for home service for smart phone repair. It was marginally expensive, but still felt good. My interaction with the person was amazing. This idea of digitally created full time job is great. Hats off to the person for this thought and the risk taken before taking up a new challenge to find the new platform.
More and more companies are turning digital which will definitely result in more layoffs in the near future. Joblessness is equally growing all over the world though all are digitally busy. Smart solutions across the world are increasing and the fear of losing jobs will certainly affect the younger generation and adults alike. Gone are those days when people used to depend on print media with limited and filtered information. Purely on professional journalism, keeping an eye on social
responsibilities, tougher cyber laws are required to stop unethical activities and fake news right now which are at its peak.
We all should take social responsibility without considering caste and religion and come out of ongoing social stigma due to fake writers and journalists.
Let us live in peace…… There is no caste and creed……
