Mamma
Dear Ma,
You are a diamond, so sweet,
An angel, caring and meek,
The caring guardian, the hero we seek.
Ma, you are the roots of the tree,
Wisdom that grounds the shoot and the seed,
Your warmth, the cool shade, and the shining sun,
Without you, we are divided.
Without you, we are none.
Your wisdom is our foundation stone,
Family at its heart,
Love until it hurts,
Love until it flows,
Seasons change, and life’s different cycles slow,
Leaves fall and young leaves grow.
You will always remain the center, the builder’s stone,
Of our hearts, our minds, you always know.
(This poem is dedicated to our lovely mother, Alice Pinto of Our Lady of Pompei Church, Gurpur–Kaikamba, who celebrated her 100th birthday on February 14, 2021)
