In the olden days, religious leaders of all religions took a
lifestyle of self-denial and
sacrifice. But, now the majority
of the religious leaders are
leading a lifestyle too hard to
comprehend for a spiritually
minded person.

If we expect our children to be
God-fearing, the parents must take
responsibility to train them very
early in life the difference
in between real spirituality and
materialism.

At first, all religious people will have to come to a total
conclusion, what is the end result of religious faith.

It is the totality
of less love for the material
things-loving each other-forgiving
each other-helping each other-
giving happiness to others-respecting each other with greater
humility etc. Now, religion is
proclaimed through the sword,
guns and bombs.

When I see different religions
blowing money to display their
pride and ego, on the other hand,
the poor people of the same
religion are undergoing severe
hunger and pain at that religious
practice, God is very mad. It is
very sad to say that the religion
has turned worse than politics,
and we can see more politics in
religion than any other
organization.

Religion is good but religion should not be your weakness. Relgion also be good when there is no compulsion . no body can dictate of term people on religion. Leave choice to people. Those who donot believe in religioni one day they will come back searching for it. Blind believing or because he say me to follow the religion lead to losing faith.

Most of the world fundamentalism has roots in religion.The most divisive force tugging at each of us living together as Indians is religion and its subsets.
Notable religious leaders like Dr. Veerendra Heggade have done considerable good to the society and its time they introspect along with religious leaders in uniting the country when the political class is trying to create vote banks in name of religion, castes, majorities and minorities and gaining considerable personal wealth for their kith and kin.

I think in ancient time the religion is made for the betterment of mankind, it keeps holding everyone in one roof and some fear inside the men towards god so that no one could do any bad things. But todays modern world most of the young generation is not bound with the religion and they wants to modern-is them self with all the bad habits learned from the western culture. This happens only when the parents don't take proper attention towards their children.

Parents think they will secure their child by having money with them. In this process they don't teach their child all the good manners like the old generation is teaching to the younger generation earlier. so i think religion is must to follow everyone and guide properly to the young generation so that they will be a perfect men in their life. In this modern world we should take our religion together with us so that it gives value to our life.

Shree Heggade is not correct. We need to leave religon behind. What started as a guide has become an obsession. Despite what is negatively said about the west, the positives outnumber the negatives and one of the reasons is the west is not obsessed with religon and there are very many non-religius people.

Do not agree with Mr.Veerendra Hegde for the following reasons,
-Religion was good for one thing. It provided a reason for humans to have morals, now that we know religion is not that reason, it can go away.
-Most religions prophecy the end of the world and then consistently work together to ensure that these prophecies come true.
-Men never commit evil so fully and joyfully as when they do it for religious convictions.
-With or without religion you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
-Religion is single-handedly the number one killer in the history of man.
-Religion has caused more misery to all of mankind in every stage of human history than any other single idea.

More crimes are committed in the name of religion than by any other notion. All religions claim to be based on love. Why then does this result in inter-religious hatred?

Throughout history it has been proven time and time again that too much emphasis on religion twists the mind and polarizes opinion. A clear conscience and empathy with your fellow human beings, the earth and its denizens, are in my humble opinion, the most important.

I agree with Dr D Veerendra Hegde. It does not only happen in India, this development has been going on for a long time in developed countries too.
All over Europe youth are diverging from the religious path and this has caused a dilemma.
Lots of young people have become slaves to a modern lifestyle.
Religion does not play any important role in their life any longer and there is a widespread feeling among young people that religious thoughts and practices are meant only for aged people.
The question is what can be done to overcome this dilemma?
It is getting more and more difficult to show young people that religions are important to them.
Values like respect, tolerance, trust, love, look after and take care of others are essential.
All big religions have the obligation to do as much as they can for the poorest of the poor.
The poorest of the poor have the right to lead a dignified life, they need education, primary health care, stable jobs.
That will give them self esteem.
Human beings belong to different denominations, we should respect one another and children should be raised within famililies with the above mentioned values.
Deeds and a life in accordance with the religion one belongs to will convince the youth that religions make life rich and offers fulfillment.
Especially in our globalised world religions should play an important role.

If you force someone to do something, he/she will never will, and this is quite common in Youth! If a youth is forced to do the rituals and prayers, he would prefer not even bothering to be a part of it. Youth are not slaves to any modern lifestyle, its just that, they are not living life, like you want them to live! You have some idea's and vision's in your eyes, and you want to see it in others, which is not going to happen. Every individual is different, unique, with his/her own unique plans and visions! The elders try to decide whats right and wrong and just impose on kids, rather than, asking what is a youth's thoughts on a situation, analyzing it, and if he/she is wrong then correcting!
Various issues like this, have made the Youth go away from old traditions and rituals! Everyone has God fear, everyone prays when he/she feels like. Forcing someone will never work, but on the other hand, you will more rebellious people against you.
