Mangaluru, Mar 11: The body of a youth who had gone missing after leaving for work was found in Someshwar lake on the morning of Wednesday, March 11.

The deceased has been identified as Vivek Shettigar (32), son of Dinesh Shettigar, a resident of Muchchilakodi house in Konaje village.

Vivek was working at a company named Mortas located near Kadri in Mangaluru. He used to leave for work every day at around 11 am and return home by about 9 pm. On March 9, he had gone to work as usual. At around 9.30 pm that night, Vivek called his mother and informed her that he was going to a temple and that he might be late returning home, asking her not to wait for him.

However, when he did not return home even by midnight, family members tried calling his mobile phone but he did not answer. When they tried contacting him again on March 10, the phone was still unreachable. Later, when they contacted the company where Vivek worked, they were informed that the company was closed. Subsequently, a missing person complaint was registered at Konaje police station.

On Wednesday, Vivek Shettigar’s body was found in Someshwar lake. His scooter was found parked near the Someshwar ratha room, and his mobile phone and slippers were also found kept there, indicating that he had gone missing from the spot.

It is learnt that Vivek Shettigar had divorced his wife around eight months ago. Ullal police visited the spot and a case has been registered.
