Mangaluru, Dec 10: Karnataka Unaided PU College Management Association (KUPMA) was launched on Friday December 9.

Former MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik who was the chief guest said, “The private unaided colleges are doing the work that has to be done by the government in the education sector. The KUPMA and government should join hands to strengthen the education sector.

“Education is not just classes and exams, but we need to prepare students for their future life. As there are numerous challenges, unity of unaided institutions is very important. An association is the only solution,” he said.

President of KUPMA Dr Mohan Alva in his welcome address said, “The private educational institutions have contributed a lot to the society. In the state, there are 3,300 pre-university colleges with 6.13 lac students. The government has to take private unaided institutions into confidence. The private educational institutions will cooperate to implement government educational programmes. To solve the issues of the private unaided institutions, we should all unitedly face the challenge.”

Organising secretary Narendra L Nayak, M B Puranik, K C Nayak, K Radhakrishna Shenoy, Dr Sudhakar Shetty and others were present.
