Bantwal, Dec 11: A retired lecturer and environmentalist has designed unique eco-friendly wedding invitation cards for his daughter’s marriage.

Rajamani Ramakunja’s daughter Medha Ramakunja is going to be held in the month of December with Ranjan Acharya. Rajamani has designed a unique invitation for the wedding. The front page contains the sketches of bride and groom designed by renowned artist Bhuvan Mangaluru.

In the inside page there is Homakundala with writing that says that a plant shall come up from you (invitee). Below the writing are packets of various seeds of vegetables like Okra, aubergine, spinach etc. Rajamani says that every house that receives the invitation should have at least one vegetable and thereby their minds should get converted towards preserving the environment.

Last page of the four-page invitation attracts the invitee with slogans about conservation of environment under the title ‘Janani Janmabumischa Swargadapi Gariyasi’. Messages of do not use and throw plastic and garbage are also written.

In the modern days, where more and more people are going for western style in weddings, the unique vegetable seed designed wedding invitation by Rajamani should inspire many.

Their message is only to avoid plastic for drinking water and use eco friendly vegetables at home. Not everyone can afford to raise a vegetable plant at home .But sure to make some thoughts about our surrounding.Following it is only left to everyone.

If he was really environmentally conscious he could have always sent the invitation on WhatsApp followed by a telephone call. The below could be avoided the benefit to our mother earth Water, Print chemicals, Colour material, usage of Paper ,Electricity for printing, transport carbon footprint both for the raw materials and transport used to handover invitation cards, and finally disposal of the waste materials and littering .
