Mangaluru: Three arrested in connection to Jaleel murder case

Mangaluru, Dec 26: Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar on Monday December 26 said that three persons have been arrested in connection to the murder of Jaleel on December 24 at Surathkal.

The arrested are identified as Shailesh Poojary (21) from Krishnapura, Savin Kanchan (24) from Hejamady and Pavan alias Pacchu (23) from Katipalla.

He further said, “As per eye witnesses, Jaleel was stabbed by two persons near his fancy store. Two assailants and one accused who helped them to escape after the stabbing have been arrested. The two assailants are habitual offenders who are rowdy sheeters in Surathkal.

“The motive behind the murder will be probed. The accused will be produced to the court and their custody will be sought for interrogation. More arrests of those directly and indirectly involved in the murder are likely to happen. The accused in custody now were also involved in a murder case in 2021.

“During the probe, we have detained 12 people including a woman. After interrogation, three people were arrested. An identification parade will be held soon,” he said.

The three accused have been taken into police custody for the next 10 days.
