    No one would ever wish Mangalore to be like Mumbai and it wont happen either. Mangalore is not scalable like Bangalore or Mumbai in infrastructure. Let Mangalore be how it is now. No traffic hastles, strong local culture, greener and cleaner city.

    KRPrabhu, Mangalore/Bangalore you are 100% right. Mangalore is developing with high rise buildings, flats, shopping malls etc, but can everyone efford to buy those costly flats or costly items in shopping malls. In mangalore there are many people inspite of being graduates are still earning very less salary which is definately not enough for the present cost of living in Mangalore. In some cases Mangalore is definately costlier than Bangalore. We can say mangalore as developed city when many companies set up their base here with the creation of more employment opportunites to young generation people. As a result of this those young generation people need not go to other metros for job. As per the medias and newspapers Mangalore was suppose to be next IT desination after Bangalore in our state, but now a days those things are only in the papers. We have only a few companies based here which is definately not enough for the development.

    Mr. KP Prabhu, all these, high cost high rise flats value building price will be collapse like what happened in Bombay 1998. Today it is running like cartel system but how long. How many NRI's will buy the flat and what sort of purchase power. Most of the NRI have nucleus family and their employed children are not willing to stay with parents or some does not even want to stay in Mangalore rather prefer to travel and enjoy while coming to Mangalore on holidays.
    In Mangalore, weather is very hot comparing to Darward, Belgaum, Bangalore, Mysore. Infra structure is not properly developed except few city areas like near Mangala stadium and lalbagh to lady hill areas with good road and footpath.

    What's happening in Mangalore.Off course Mangalore is developing but what about employment generation?Whether it is growing on expected pace?Who are the takers for high cost high rise flats here.When compared to Bangalore Bangalore is cheaper than Mangalore.There are already high rise/cost recidencies by well known corporates in the pipeline.Other than NRIs can common Mangaloreans are capable of making huge investments in high cost flats in Mangalore?

    Dear Tremerin,
    we want our Mangalore to develop like how your Mumbai is...so that our youth can get jobs in Mangalore instead of going to other cities/abroad. If you want to stay in green jungles you may do so anytime in ghats or behind your ancesters home in Mangalore villages...there is plenty of grenary still left in Mangalore.
