Karachi, Jun 1 (BBC): The Pakistan Cricket Board has suspended captain Shahid Afridi's central contract and charged him for "disparaging remarks about the board".

It has also revoked permission for him to play for Hampshire in the English county Twenty20 tournament and a Sri Lankan Twenty20 event next month.

Afridi, 33, announced his retirement from international cricket on Monday.

He said he "will not play under this board" and added, "If a different board comes in, I will return."

The all-rounder said on Monday he was "not in the mental condition to continue". But he added the retirement was "conditional".

Last year, Afridi retired from Test cricket but continued to lead the team in short-form cricket, before his removal from that role by the PCB on 19 May.

His replacement, Misbah-ul-Haq, led the team in a 2-0 one-day international series win in Ireland.

Afridi criticised Pakistan's team management after the side's recent one-day series in the West Indies.

He had led Pakistan's Twenty20 and one-day international sides since early 2010.

A hard-hitting batsman and leg-spin bowler, Afridi has played in 27 Tests, 325 one-day games and 43 Twenty20s for his country.
