Kasargod, Feb 14: Several electric poles broke and fell while demolishing a mosque building through JCB during work on the national highway here.

The front portion of the mosque fell on the electric poles causing them to fall. The incident occurred at Nullipady on the outskirts, on Tuesday, February 14 evening. However a major mishap was averted.

Several electric poles from the new bus stand till Nullipady are broken. The front portion of the mosque fell on electric cables.

Several vehicles were on the move on the road when the incident happened. Besides, hundreds of curious people were watching the work.

The incident occurred at about 6 pm. Traffic between Kasargod and Cherkala was suspended subsequent to it. Fire brigades and KSEB officials reached the spot, vacated the spot and made way for traffic. As more than 10 electric poles broke, there was an electricity breakdown for sometime.

    Very very poorly planned job done by the govt hurriedly under the cover of darkness at odd hours. Hope it is done legally without hurting Muslim sentiments by providing alternate site for the mosque.

    since there was current failure at 6 pm... pls check whether any illegal / golmal or surreptitious activity has taken place in the affected areas... under the cover of darkness... any thing is possible in that town...

    Why mosque is demolished ?was it old ?OK.but by doing demolishing work ,they should have to assure that electric poles are not damaged.Not working like a not professionals .It is important that electricity is important and can also any emergency might arise by falling of polls. now who will pay for to install these polls.
