Kundapur: Customer seriously injured after tipper rams into roadside eatery

Kundapur, Feb 21: A tipper rammed into a roadside eatery and grievously injured a customer at Mavinakatte Cross on Monday February 20.

The tipper carrying a load of clay was moving from Kundapur to Gulvadi. As it reached Mavinakatte cross, it suddenly entered Sweekar family dhaba owned by Mohammed Hanif. While a customer, Abiddin was seriously injured, Hanif and his son escaped by a whisker. It is said that the negligent driving of the tipper driver is the reason for the mishap.

Equipment of worth over Rs 3 lac inside the hotel were damaged in the accident. A case is filed in Kundapur rural police station.

    This incident should open the eyes of those authorities sleeping in the Udupi Municipality to allow such illegal eateries and others on the side of all the roads in Udupi town and district. Mos of these eateries and other shops set up illegally on the road side are also given water and electricity connection without obtaining a legal trade licence of a licence to run a restaurant. Every illegal business on the roadside must be demolished and owners penalized

    These tippers are a menace on our streets n roads.... I see tippers plying in busy narrow streets of Udupi at seemingly high speeds... there is no one to control them... police are busy locking wheels of parked vehicles and cutting fine chalans for minor offences.... make hefty penalties for negligent driving including life time cancellation of driving licences.... let them do hard labor to dissolve sour fat in their bodies....
