Will 'Dharmasthala Oath' Prove Costly for Yeddy?

Daijworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Jun 20: Nation's eyes are once again set on Karnataka politics with Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and former CM from JD (S) leader Kumaraswamy planning to take oath in the name of Lord Manjunathaswamy of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala on June 27. This was an outcome of an attempt by Yeddy to 'buy peace' with Kumaraswamy, it is learnt.

Yeddyurappa, currently in Kerala for Ayurvedic medical treatment though earlier denied that he wanted to buy peace with former CM for keeping silent on corruption issues, later contacted Kumaraswamy through BJP MLC Lehar Singh. However, when Kumaraswamy made this public, Yeddy again made volte-face and challenged Kumaraswamy to swear in Dharmasthala. Followed by this, he reportedly spent over Rs 75 lac to publish advertisements in state's Kannada and English daily newspapers about his 'oath' taking challenge.

The incident of mixing God and politics has invited the ire of many intellectuals and politicians statewide.

Speaking to media persons in Udupi, Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde ridiculing the act, advised both of them not to bring 'God' in such things. Instead of swearing in the name of God, independent inquiry should be formed to bring out the truth, he said.

On the other hand, opposition leader Siddaramaiah has strongly criticized CM for using government funds to advertise his personal agenda. "Yeddyurappa should spend money from his pocket to advertise in the paper, and not the public money. It is a shameful step both by CM and Kumaraswamy to swear in the name of God like 'innocent' kids, he added.

"If these things can be sorted out by taking oath, then where is the value for Democracy? Why do you need assembly if everything can be sorted out in front of the temples" he lamented. "Yedyurappa and Reddy brothers are fearing their arrest and are aware of the fact that they will be lodged in jail for Karnataka scams if referred to CBI. This is
the reason why Yeddyurappa and company is not in favour of order CBI inquiries, noted Siddu.

It is further learnt that even the state BJP leaders were not happy with the duo resorting to 'oath' taking. When state BJP leanrt that, government money was being spent on advertising Dharmastala issue, some leaders quickly chipped in for damage control by contributing BJP fund instead of the government funds.

Speculations apart, it is only wait and watch policy one has to resign into until the D-day. Will both Yedyurappa and Kumaraswamy visit Dharmasthala on the day and disclose the truth, only time will tell.

Today's Times of India daily has reported that though Lehar SIngh admitted that he met Kumaraswamy, he stressed that it was just a casual visit. Reading the report on the paper, Kumaraswamy remarked that "Half truth is out..and the whole truth will too come to light, with that the CM's lie too."

This kind of mud slinging will go on for another two years.People are fed with this kind right from the day one Yeddy became C M.
This was not expected from the opposition parties. They are also lying to the people of Karnataka.
H D K is the first vacana BraShta. Had he allowed Yeddy to rule for just twenty months then this situation would not have occured. BraShTacharas are of many kinds like vacana, karma, jati, dharma etc.
Today's oath drama is also BraShTa drama that too in Dharmasthala.
let Lord Manjunatha guide the incorrigible politicians in the dharma marga.

Forget about Darmasthala , even if you make these politicians take oath in front of their own God , This Yeddy & Reddy wont hesitate to lie & cheat everybody.
its already a forgone conclusion that these people have ruined this state for good .
whats really interesting is to see how long the people of this state will go on to blindly support these crooks election after election.
    In karnataka its

In this oath politics Yeddy has nothing to lose? Already in the past during parliamentary elections he made oath on God and told his son will not contest the parliamentary election, but later he got ticket and elected. These types of oaths are not new for Yeddy, off course, it matters a lot for Kumanara swami if he takes a false oath. Best of luck to both as there is nothing else to do than Kar-Nataka. Baba's & Sadu's has been bought to politics long before when all Veera Shaiva Swamis supported Yeddy, now its GOD's turn..... Best of luck Mr. Yeddy, we are all with you in this new type of politics. Putta Swami failed to prove any scandals of Kumara Swamy so far.

Are we people from Karnataka really so pathetic that we chose jokers such as these to lead us?

I imagine God already is aware of the principles of our leaders. Making oaths in a temple mean nothing if one has no self respect.

Separation of Religion and State! This is the only lesson that is left to draw from the sorry state of current affairs in Karnataka.

It is high time the CM offers his resignation and call for a fresh election. The law of the land should check on the amassing of ill-wealth by the Reddy brothers & Co.
Not only general black-money but even all the donations received from the ill-gotten wealth by the religious trusts are also equally qualified to be ill-wealth/black-money. The religious trust should not accept the wealth ped by faceless donors into their hundy boxes because only the black moneyed crooks donate so liberally to any organisation because it is directly or indirectly others looted wealth.

I always felt that small kids going to kindy school swear on god.
These guys are not fit to be politicians and leaders.
How ever if leaders of developed countries read this nonsence how disgraceful it will be.
Last week an American democrat congressman resigned as he owned up to what he did as he had sent some obsence pics of him self on face book.
No politician in India would own up any wrong doings because they consider to have come down straight from heaven.
These politicians have to answer the electorate first and then to god. God is too busy with his jobs as he has to take care of many such whips.

The word "Dharma" traditionally means religion, ritual, duty, righteousness, and alms. It also implies justice, truthfulness, freedom from fear, faith, solace, fulfillment and peace.

Dharmasthala is the perfect embodiment of the word "Dharma" for it displays every shade of meaning with which the word is imbued. The greatness of Dharmasthala, however is the fact that it has added an active element to "Dharma", such that it touches the lives of people with a transformational directness that is unique.

To those that come for worship, Dharmasthala represents religious tolerance wherein caste, creed and faith of pilgrims are no bars. For here, the Jain Theerthankara is worshipped on the same consecrated grounds as the native Daivas and Lord Manjunatha (Lord Shiva). The priests are Vaishnavite Brahmins and the guardian of the temple is Heggade, a Jain by faith. Altogether forming a confluence of faiths that harmonize in belief of the Omnipotent.

To those that come for justice, Dharmasthala is the scale that does not tip in favour of a lawyer's glib tongue. Here, without any legal formality or argument the Heggade dispenses justice, acting in the tradition of his ancestral role as the Heggade and representing the presiding deities.

To those that come in need, Dharmasthala is an Oasis, where succour, solace and hope abound in the serenity of the temple and in the free hostelries that provide food and shelter.

And to those that come in curiosity, Dharmasthala is a miracle of paradoxes. Here different faiths co-exist in harmony just as traditions make room for experimental services, High or low, rich or poor, devout or atheist, at Dharmasthala all are equal.
