Belagavi, Mar 20: After the efforts to woo the all domestic energy consumers, housewives and the hungry poor with three specific guarantees ahead of the assembly polls, the Congress party has now come out the Guarantee Number 4 by offering monthly Unemployment Allowance of Rs 3,000 to graduates and Rs 1,500 to diploma holders through former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi as part of the Yuva Kranti convention held in the border district of Belagavi on Monday.
AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge, KPCC Chief D K Shivakumar, Congress opposition leader in the assembly Siddaramaiah, AICC general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, Youth Congress National President B V Srinivas and other senior party leaders were present.
The Congress party has already offered Guarantees of 200 units of free power to all domestic power consumers under Gruhajyothi, Rs 2,000 cash payment for all housewives per month, 10 kg of free rice to all BPL cardholders and now the latest Guarantee Number 4, Yuva Nidhi.
It may be recalled that Congress party had ensured that Rahul’s sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra got the opportunity to unveil its Guarantee 2, Gruhalakshmi, of Rs 2,000 each per month or Rs 24,000 annually to all housewives. Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah have already announced the Guarantee 1 of 200 units of free power to all domestic power consumers and had subsequently that the free distribution of rice that was introduced during the Siddaramaiah regime as Annabhagya of supplying 10 kg of rice to all BPL card holders per month, which was subsequently reduced to 7kg per month by the previous government and further reduced to 5 kg per month by the BJP government.
Addressing the Yuva Kranti convention, Siddaramaiah said the Congress party is committed to providing a government for the next 5 years for shaping the future of the State in the place of the corrupt BJP rule. It was the former Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhi had taken the revolutionary decision of ensuring that all the 18 year old youth were granted the right to vote. But under the present Narendra Modi rule, unemployment is mounting and the youth are suffering.
Modi has forgotten promises
The Modi government has completed 9 year rule and the BJP, which came to power in the State through the backdoor, is completing 4 years in power. The promise of good governance, double engine rule and doubling of farmers income and creating 2 crore jobs per year as well as the slogans of Acche Din have all failed. Entire State government is stinking in corruption from top to bottom and it is time to throw it out, he said.
Siddaramaiah said Modi did not visit Karnataka when it was reeling under floods and devastation or when hundreds of people died due to lack of oxygen during the Corona pandemic or when lakhs of people suffered. Now Modi is visiting the state again and again to ask for votes, he said and the BJP has won elections by raising the bogey of Pakistan, China and Hindutva and fooled the people.
Cong will win 140 seats
Shivakumar said the Congress party had launched its Prajadhwani Yatra to throw out the corrupt BJP rule, which has become synonymous with 40% commission, and is now launching the Yuva Kranti movement. Congress party is committed to work for the farmers, working classes, women and the youth.
“We believe in creating job opportunities to the youth and provide a corruption free and result oriented government,’’ he said.
The KPCC Chief said the Congress is determined to win 140 out of the 224 States. “This is our promise to AICC Chief Mallikarjuna Kharge and our beloved leader Rahul Gandhi,’’ he said pointing out that BJP poll symbol of Lotus or Kamala is best confined to water ponds while Congress party’s symbol of Hand is for work and delivering on the promises.
