Mangalore, Jun 25: Santosh (21), Deepak (21), and Tilak, who were snatched away by fate in the form of strong waves on Thursday June 23 evening, were the lone male children of their respective families. While Santosh and Deepak were the children of direct sisters, Tilak was their relative. The bodies of these three youngsters are yet to be recovered, in spite of efforts being made to locate them since they drowned.

They stayed at CPC Compound near Urwa Market in the city. Santosh was the son of Gopal Poojary and Parvati, while Deepak was the son of Gopal Poojary and Varija. Tilak was the son of Kamalaksha and Nalini.

Deepak, only child of his parents, stayed at Mumbai with his father, who operate a hotel there. Gopal Pooojary came to the city on June 9 to take part in the post-funeral rituals of his mother, who had died recently, scheduled to be held on June 22. The family was to return to Mumbai on Sunday, if everything had gone as planned. Deepak, who had completed B Com degree course, was awaiting the result.

Santosh was the only offspring of his parents, and was working as technician in Arvind Motors, Kulur, after completing training in a vocation course at Karnataka Polytechnic here. His father, who worked as a labourer earlier, stopped working sometime back, after health complications did not permit him to do manual work.

Tilak’s parents have, apart from their only son who drowned, two daughters, who are married. Tilak was working as technician in Tribhuvan Motors till recently. His father, Kamalaksha, works as a painter of homes and buildings, and Tilak, who stopped working for his firm sometime back, had begun accompanying his father in his work.

The three youth had visited Tannirbavi beach with some other friends in a tempo. Circle police inspector, Valentine D’Souza, is coordinating the efforts to find the bodies of these three youth. Police commissioner, Seemant Kumar Singh, has sought the help of Coast Guard to search for the bodies in the deep sea.

The Youth, the young people should avoid getting into the rough sea or a river, partiularly if they do not know to swim. Control the desire of swimming where there is a sure risk. Just enjoy the beauty of the water from far and go home. Simple. May the souls rest in peace.

When people know but dont care this thing happens, i think most of the guys there are responsible as they know they have people to look after, if only these people realised that their parents are still alive and they are the only ones to take care of, this tragedy wouldn't happen. Death is a personal experience to me, and youth who die in this way are sometimes irresponsible. Atleast their bodies were found, i heard of cases where even bodies were badly mutiliated or not found. I advise all the youths who read this never to do anything silly, because sometimes its not Fate, its only the choices you make gets you in situation like this. its not the problem of Govt, its the problem of careless mindless bloodrush in the youth.

May the souls rest in peace. The government has to do something on Tannirbavi. The waves and rough sea can be controlled by laying a hard rock wall by boomarang shape on the sea at a 500 metere distance. This is usual practice in advanced countries which helps people to enjoy the beaches.
