Mangaluru, Apr 23: AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge will be touring Dakshina Kannada district on a two-day visit on April 24 and 25 in support of Congress candidates and to address rallies in the district. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit Mangaluru city on April 27, according to AICC general secretary Roji John.
Addressing media persons at the Congress Bhavan here on Sunday, April 23, he said NSUI and Youth Congress workers will welcome Kharge on his arrival at the Marry Hill helipad. He will be visiting the district after completing his tour of Chikkamagaluru and Tarikere.
John said this is Kharge’s visit to the district after being elected as AICC president. On April 24, Kharge will be staying overnight in Mangaluru and will brief the media persons on April 25, John said.
Kharge will participate in a massive rally at Sullia in the afternoon on April 25. Party workers and leaders from Belthangady, Puttur, Sullia will take part in the rally. Later at 4 pm, he will take part in a meet which will be held at TMA Pai Hall in Mangaluru, John said.
Rahul Gandhi will arrive in Mangaluru city on April 27 and will take part in a road show from Collectors Gate to Nehru Maidan in the evening at 5 pm.
Youth Congress workers and NSUI workers will join the road show, he said.
Meanwhile, MLC Manjunath Bhandary has laid to rush news that is being circulated about a survey carried out by the BBC which gave the BJP a clear majority in the upcoming assembly elections. “There are no such surveys conducted by the BBC. BBC has clarified that it is fake news. This clearly shows the frustration of the BJP in coming back to power,” he added.
He said , “The 40% commission government will lose this election. The entire state will vote in favour of the Congress.” Bhandary also predicted that the Congress will win all the seats in the coastal region in the elections.
Congress district president K Harish Kumar, Youth Congress leader Luqman Bantwal, NSUI district president Savad Sullia and others were present.
