Mangaluru, Apr 25: In an incident of utter negligence by the railway employees, the mortal remains of a passenger, who was arriving to Mangaluru from Mumbai, went back to Mumbai as he died in the toilet of the train on the journey.
Mohan Bangera (56), a native of Mennabettu of Kinnigoli who was coming to native place from Mumbai, died of cardiac arrest. His family members, without knowing what happened, searched for him from Mangaluru to Mumbai in all railway stations. However, the railway employees who were supposed to check the toilet of the respective bogie did not check and gave false report that they have checked the same.
The enraged family members said, “We have paid Rs 10000 for an agency to send the mortal remains back to Mangaluru from Mumbai. However, when we received the parcel, the body of Mohan Bangera was completely decomposed and foul smell was emanating. If this is the plight of a passenger travelling by AC bogie, what kind of help passengers travelling in other class bogies can expect from the railway department? This is utter negligence and dereliction of duty of the railway employees. We have applied for compensation also.”
Mohan Bangera was running a milk parlour in Mumbai since many years. His wife and two sons are residing in Kinnigoli.
Mohan was travelling to Mangaluru from Mumbai on April 18. His brother and others were waiting at Surathkal railway station to receive him. However, they got the news from TTE of railway that Mohan Bangera is missing. His bag, purse and mobile was found on the seat where he was sitting. When the family members enquired with TTE, he said that Mohan might have got down at Kankavali or Madgaon. The CCTV footage of that station might give some evidence. Later, the family members went to Mangaluru Junction and raised a missing complaint.
In the midst of this development, the relatives of Mohan checked CCTV footage of stations in Mumbai but no clue was found. On the following day, Ram Bangera, elder brother of Mohan Bangera received call from TTE of CST railway station who informed that body of Mohan Bangera was found in the toilet of the AC bogie in which he was travelling.
Ram Bangera says, “The mortal remains of my younger brother had arrived to Mangaluru in the toilet of the bogie. However, the employees did not search properly. He would have been saved even if there was a remote chance. However, due to false reporting of the railway employees, the body went back to Mumbai.”
