India Vs WI : Third Test Drawn, but Dhoni not Disappointed

Daijiworld Media Network

Roseau (Dominica), July 11 :  Third test match between India and West indies has ended in a disappointing draw, here on Sunday, Jul 10.

Chanderpaul's Defiant 23rd century has denied India a test win. He continues to amaze everyone with his resilience.

India ended the series with 1-0 victory. It was a well deserved series win for India, without 5 of their top guns. Raina had a very good test series while Ishant Sharma was the standout performer with 22 wickets at 16.86 in the series. Dravid and Laxman were their usual consistent self and with all of the top 5 coming back for the England series, India would back themselves to beat them despite playing under alien conditions.

Speaking after the match, Dhoni said that  " I am not disappointed with the result. We tried our best to dislodge the batsmen. It was a very slow wicket but Harbhajan was getting some bounce and turn. We relied on him heavily and it was a good performance from the fast bowlers. After 25-30 overs, the ball became soft but they put their best effort. We were not sure about the wicket and we did not have many games before this. The pitch became flatter and it became difficult to manoeuvre."

"If the pitch offered turn, we had the bowlers like Raina to get the breakthrough. We realized that it was not worth a go and we decided to call it a day and I am happy to win the series. Murali Vijay played well and Virat Kohli got a chance. All of them got exposure and Ishant performed really well. I am satisfied with the performance of all the players." he said

Ishant Sharma declared the Man of the Series for his match haul of 22 wickets @16.86.

"This is my first Man of the series and I am very happy with this effort. The pitch here was slow and flat but we needed to put in the effort. I am very confident ahead of the England tour and I am glad I am playing in the Test squad. "  Ishant said

Shivnarine Chanderpaul is the Man of the Match for his 23rd Test century.

Speaking after the match he said, "I was frustrated with getting out in the 20s and 30s in the whole series. However, I was happy that I hung in there and I got to the century. I was speaking to Kirk and it was in the back of my mind. It is a honour to be the most capped player and it shows what hard work can do. I heard it when I was playing and I would like to thank the people of Dominica and the Prime Minister for giving me honorary citizenship of Dominica. "

West Indies captain Darren Sammy " I am very pleased with the result. I would like to thank the people of Dominica for coming out in large numbers. I felt I was playing a T20 match. The public still loves us and I was glad that they support us. We were a bowler short but we showed a lot of character. We have been asking the batting to step up all summer and Kirk Edwards came to the party. Shiv proved today that he is still one of the best batsman in the side. Dropped catches do happen in a series but we did not score enough runs in the first innings. The guys know what is required and it is good to see that we are going in the right direction. I was surprised that India opted for the draw as the third wicket fell. "
