Udupi, Jun 6: “Drug mafia is very strongly operating in Udupi district. It must be stopped at any cost,” said Dr G Parameshwar, home minister, Karnataka government during his visit to the district on Tuesday June 6. He visited the SP’s office and chaired a review meeting of the police department.
After the meeting, speaking to media, Dr Parameshwar said, “Moral policing must be stopped. Communalism is bringing imbalance in the society. Communalism is spoiling the behaviour of innocent students. I came to know that drug mafia is rampant here, where they target weak people, especially young students. I have instructed the district police to take control of the situation. The in-charge police officers of the particular area are responsible. Cyber crime rate is also increasing in Udupi. If the victim immediately informs the cyber crime department, they can take action immediately. So in such cases, people must report immediately so that immediate action can be taken. The BJP government has made their own rules to protect their work. I will not talk about it because they are doing it for the good of their own people.”
Talking about recruitment, the home minister said, “There are 15000 vacancies for the constable and sub inspector posts. From two years, the PSI appointment has been kept on hold due to corruption. As there is a stay order, we cannot proceed any further. We are yet to decide if the candidates who are selected earlier should be appointed or given a re-exam. I have ordered that there should be no delay in promotions. If there is a vacancy, then they will be promoted. Coast Guard Security is formed for the protection of coastal areas. If there is need for any changes in traffic, then we will do it.”
We should win Udupi-Chikkamagaluru seat in 2024 – G Parameshwar to Congress workers in Udupi
Dr G Parameshwar, addressing the Congress workers in Udupi district Congress office said, “I feel very happy to visit Udupi district Congress office. When I was the party president, I had ordered that if we visit any district, we must visit the party office of that district and today is my turn. Congress members should go to each state and inform about the BJP’s corrupt governance. During the election, I was chosen as the president of the executive committee. I worked for three months along with other two people thinking what can we do for the welfare of the society and we brought these five guarantees.
"The government brought all five schemes only to empower people. There is no need to worry. The state government is always with you. We will give a corruption-free rule. The state government’s financial position will be stable even after providing all the five schemes. The BJP is protesting against the guarantee cards, which shows that they are not in support of the economically poor and backward class people. This is my third time as a state home minister. I will always work for the welfare of the people. As the Lok Sabha elections are getting closer, the best candidate must be chosen. You people will decide who will be the candidate. In the next election, the Congress must win the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru seat. I will keep visiting Udupi and will respond to people’s problems," he said.
Former MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake, district Congress president Ashok Kumar Kodavuru, working president Kishan Hegde, MLC Manjunath Bhandary, block Congress president Ramesh Kanchan and others were present.
