Mangalore: Gas Connection Chaos - Consumers Annoyed
Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (VA)
Mangalore, Jul 24: Soon after the news related to gas connection issues was carried by the media on Saturday July 23, consumers flocked district offices, only to be disappointed.
Many of them found that even after submitting all necessary documents, their names were missing or marked for verification.
The food and civil supplies department officers said that the servers were down which irked the consumers.
The angry consumers in large numbers knocked the doors of taluk and district offices and sought explanation for the issue. They complained that though they had tried to upload information on the website mentioned in the government advertisement, they could not do so. The officials at the help desk were of no use, they said.
The usernames and passwords given to officials reportedly did not work, and new ones will be given. Deputy director Sharanabasappa said all matters will be resolved by Monday July 25.
The consumers were asked to bring copies of their LPG consumer cards or LPG bills and also the electricity bills.
The department heads concerned told the consumers that they need not worry if their names are missing from the website or if their gas connections are barred. Within 15 days all the problems would be solved and re-examination of all the names and documents in each connection would be done, they assured.
Now the customers themselves can upload their names onto the website. All they need to do is to visit www.ahara.kar.nic.in and can enter their ration card and R R number. Within 10 days of uploading, their names would be added to the website.
