Bantwal, Jul 3: A case is filed in Vittal police station in connection with the attempt to suicide by couple at Bakila in Anantadi village, in which the husband died and wife is recovering at a hospital in Mangaluru. It is said that the differences between the couple led to this extreme step.
A case is registered as per the complaint filed by Pradeep, brother of deceased Pratap (33).
Pratap was a private bus driver and was living with his wife and twin children at Bakila. Of late, there were frequent quarrels between the couple, it is learnt.

Pratap, who was distraught by the situation in his family, hanged himself to the ceiling fan of the dining room using a nylon saree. His wife Veena, who saw Pratap hanging in the kitchen, tied the wire of an iron box to the same fan and hanged herself.
The neighbours who came to know the matter, rushed both to Puttur hospital. Pratap succumbed on the way. His wife Veena was later taken to Mangaluru for higher treatment and she is recovering, it is said.
