Kundapur, Jul 28: The mortal remains of Sharath Kumar (23), a native of Bhadravathi, who slipped and fell into Arasinagundi Falls near Kollur on July 23 were not found even after four days of intense search.
Incessant rains, current of water in the falls has set back the operation to recover the body of Sharath. Sharath stood on the slippery rocks of the falls while his friend was making a video of the same and accidentally slipped and fell into the falls and disappeared.
The SDRF, Kollur police, Byndoor fire service team and district fire service team are searching for the mortal remains till six to seven km of distance from the spot where Sharat fell into the falls.
The teams begin searching at 7 am and continues till 6 pm. However, there is no way to reach the spot where Sharath fell into the falls. Vehicles need to be parked around three to four km away and dense forest terrain has to be accessed to reach the spot. The operation teams have to walk at least two to three hours every day to reach the place. The incessant rains have further reduced the speed of operation.
Due to the forest terrain, snakes and other insects are also bothering the rescuers. Drone cameras are also used to look into the areas between the rocks to know if they can get some clue of the mortal remains of Sharath.
On Monday, the first day of search, the police, fire service personnel and locals had participated in the operation. On Tuesday, Eshwar Malpe and 40 others searched for the body. On Wednesday, Kotiraj, police, fire service personnel numbering 60 were involved in the operation. On Thursday, 16 members of Sharath’s family, friends and 41 others were in the search team.
