Udupi, Aug 10: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has escalated its investigation into the unsettling washroom video controversy that has gripped a paramedical college in the city.
CID officials, led by SP Raghavendra and DySP Anjumala Nayak, meticulously probed the incident at the college premises, accompanied by their team. The victimized students were present to provide their statements, and crucial evidence was gathered.
The Bengaluru Mobile Forensic Science Laboratory also joined the effort, facilitating on-the-spot verification by expert personnel. Fingerprints were meticulously collected from the scene of the incident.
College staff members were subjected to inquiries, and their statements were formally recorded while ensuring the anonymity of the victimized girls.
For investigative purposes, a plastic doll was employed to recreate the incident, symbolizing the seriousness of the inquiry. This doll was transported to the college in a police vehicle and positioned at the site of the occurrence. There are indications that a recreation of the incident using the plastic doll might take place on Thursday.
The investigation, which commenced at 10 am on Wednesday, continued until 2 pm, underscoring the comprehensive nature of the inquiry.
The allegedly victimized girl, while yet to file an official complaint regarding the alleged atrocity, holds a pivotal role in the ongoing CID investigation. A separate CID team reviewed the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from cameras in the vicinity, which had been provided by the district police.
Three mobile phones sent to Hyderabad FSL
The Forensic Science Laboratory report for the three confiscated mobile phones belonging to the Muslim girl students remains pending. These iPhones have been sent to the Hyderabad FSL. The absence of the primary video evidence has contributed to the lack of clarity surrounding the controversy.
