Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 7: After tomato prices hit the roof and plummeted it is now the turn of bananas in the coastal districts.
Banana prices have zoomed in the market due to shortage of supply and in the light of higher demand for the fruit in the festival season.
Public are therefore forced to pay a higher price to buy the fruit in the market.
In Mangaluru, the price of Kadali fruit has crossed Rs 120 a kilo while in Udupi it is available between Rs 115-120 a kilo. The prices of the fruit are likely to remain high until the end of this month.
