Udupi, Sep 10: A mentally ill man who had been causing distress in and around Hebri was successfully rescued by social worker Vishu Shetty, with the assistance of local residents, and subsequently admitted to Manjeshwar Snehalaya, a rehabilitation center for mentally ill individuals.
The rescued individual is a 55-year-old man, suspected to be from an outstation state. He had been wandering about, regardless of the hot weather or rain, and had not taken a bath for several months. Locals Sridutta Shetty and Dr. Bhargavi Aithal, moved by the man's plight, brought the matter to the attention of social worker Vishu Shetty, urging him to secure admission for the man in a rehabilitation center.
The efforts to assist this individual received support from various quarters, including Jaycee Senior Hebri President Prakash Shetty, Sridatta Shetty, Dr. Bhargavi Aithal, Nithil Prabhu Chara, and Hebri Police Station Head Constable Shankar.
Joseph Crasta, the head of Manjeshwar Snehalaya, graciously agreed to accommodate the mentally ill individual. He was transported to Manjeshwar via a private vehicle. The public commended the humanitarian actions of Vishu Shetty and Joseph Crasta.
