Mangaluru: Gopinath Bhat conferred with Kundeshwara Kalabhushana award

Mangaluru, Sep 11: The maiden show of ‘Mane Manchoda Mantramurti’ drama presented by Sriprapti Kalavider Kudla team at Townhall of the city was a big hit.

Kundeshwara Kalabhushana award was conferred on multi-lingual artiste and doyen of stage art Gopinath Bhat. Senior Daivaradhaka Seena Shedya was also felicitated.

The drama was flagged off by Priest of Kateel temple Sri Harinarayanadasa Asranna. Speaking on the occasion he said, “Kundeshwara Pratistana is doing excellent work in the field of religious and culture for the past few decades. In addition, to presenting dramas, they also honour artistes.”

‘Telikeda Bolli’ Dr Devadas Kapikad said, “Presenting historical dramas is very challenging. Now religious dramas are getting popular. There is no doubt that Mantramurti drama will be a big hit among the public.”

Kalamanikya Vijayakumar Kodialbail said, “Janapad dramas should get more shows.”

Daijiworld media founder Walter Nandalike said, “By honouring Gopinath Bhat, whom the whole society appreciates, the award has earned more value now. I wish this drama is staged over a 100 times.”

Capt Brijesh Chowta, Prakash Pandeshwara, Padmaraj R, Madhava Naik Adyar, Kunjathodi, Sachidananda and Vivekananda were present.

Jeetendra Kundeshwara welcomed the gathering. Prashant C K rendered vote of thanks. Rishika Kundeshwara offered the prayers. The programme was compered by V J Madhuraj.

Convener Mukesh Shetty, J K Rai, Jagadeesh Adyar, Srikant Madoor, Vijesh Devadiga and Suhan Kulai cooperated.

The guests gave their opinion on ‘Mane Manchoda Mantramurti’ after the drama was presented.

“I saw the complete drama. I like it very much. Costume and setting were perfect. If the artistes get training like Neenasam, play will be more superb,” said Telikeda Bolli Devadas Kapikad.

Kalamanikya Vijayakumar Kodialbail said, “Drama is good. No complaints about settings, lighting and acting. Congratulations.”

Kishore D Shetty, owner of five drama troupes, said, “I watched the drama. It was good. If the costumes were of olden times it is good. The role of king was looking like Sri Krishnadevaraya. The costume can be designed as local small kings.”

Kadri Ramachandra Bhat, president, Kadri Yakshakoota, said, “Very good drama. It is common to insult bunt and Brahmin communities in dramas of these days. However, all communities have got equal respect in this drama.”
