Mangaluru: CCB police seize Amber Grease worth Rs 90 lacs near Panambur Beach, 3 held

Mangaluru, Sep 11: The Mangaluru City Crime Branch police seized Amber Grease (Whale vomit) which was in possession of three persons who were trying to sell the same and arrested all the three of them.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a place near Panambur Beach on Monday, September 11 and seized Amber Grease weighing 900 grams valued at Rs 90 lacs.

The accused have been identified as Jayakara (39) of Saligrama village, Udupi district, Aditya (25) of Sagar taluk, Shivamogga district and Lohit Kumar Gurappanavar (39) of Shiggaon, Haveri district.

The raid was carried out under the guidance of Anupam Agrawal, commissioner of police, Mangaluru city by the Officers and staff of City Crime Branch, Mangaluru.

Amber Grease is said to be a rare wild life product that is highly valued  in the international market.
