Kasargod: Mother drowns her new born 1.5 month old baby girl in slush

Kasaragod, Sep 12: A tragic incident in which a one-and-a-half-month-old baby girl was drowned in muddy water by her mother occurred on Tuesday, September 12 in the afternoon at Uppal Pachlampare under the Manjeshwar police station limits.

Couple Sumangali and Satyanarayana's one-and-a-half month old baby is the unfortunate victim.

As the mother and child were missing on Tuesday afternoon, when the family began searching for both of them, the mother was found a short distance from the house and the child was missing.

When questioned, it was said that she had killed the child by drowning it in muddy water in a nearby plain.

A case has been registered by the Manjeshwar police station and the woman Sumangali has been taken into custody by the police.

The police said that the woman was behaving like a mentally ill person. Police have begun investigation into the case to see if there was any other reason for the act.
