Beltangady: Auto-rickshaw crushed between tempo, truck – Driver seriously injured

Beltangady, Sep 14: Three people injured, one seriously, in an accident involving a tempo, truck and auto-rickshaw near TB Cross on NH 73 of Ujire on Wednesday September 13.

The driver of concrete mixer truck which was moving from Beltangady to Ujire reduced the speed of the vehicle. The rickshaw that was following the truck also reduced its speed. However, the tempo which was behind the auto-rickshaw crashed on it as a result of which the auto-rickshaw was pushed forward and hit the truck.

Auto-rickshaw driver Damodar (32), a resident of Bantwal is seriously injured. Passengers in the auto-rickshaw Srijan (27) and Biju (38), both from Bantwal, were given first aid at a local hospital. All three are shifted to Mangaluru hospital for higher treatment.

Traffic on the highway was affected for more than an hour due to the accident. Beltangady traffic police have registered a case in this connection.
