Udupi, Sep 15: The reading of the Preamble of Constitution was organized by the Udupi district administration on a grand note on Friday September 15.
Dr Vidyakumari, the district commissioner (DC) read the Preamble of Constitution and thousands of students repeated the same.
Addressing the students, DC Dr Vidyakumari said, "The Preamble of the Constitution is an important element in our constitution. There are clear cut directions regarding how the judiciary, executive and administration should work. Equal powers have been distributed between all the three. An inter-relationship has been proposed between them in our constitution. The proceedings of the constituent assembly are written and are available in book form. All the students should read these proceedings and discussions. We are forgetting the importance of the constitution these days. This movement should spread to more people through students. All the government offices and schools should display the Preamble of the Constitution in their premises. We should develop a broad mentality and this programme will help in doing so.”
Thousands of students and individuals participated in the programme.
Xilla panchayat CEO Prasanna K H, director of women development corporation Pushpalata, legal cell’s Sharmila, ADC Mamatadevi G S, ASP S T Siddalingappa, principal of G Shankar first grade government college Bhaskar, principal of women’s college Udupi Suma, and deputy director of social welfare department Anitha were present.
Praveen N, associate professor gave an overview of the Indian Constitution.
