Beltangady, Sep 16: In a strange occurrence, stolen golden ornaments that were kept in the underground storage cellar of a house at Kadamballi Valya of Mundaje village, were found inside the compound of the house within 48 hours after the house inmates filed complaint with the police.
Pramod V Bhide had hired 10 to 13 labourers for the cement plastering and painting work of his house from July 5. They had finished their work on July 19. On September 12, when Pramod’s wife went to the cellar to take the gold weighing 122 grams worth Rs five lac in order to wear for a function, it was found missing. A complaint was filed in Dharmasthala police station accordingly.
As the investigation began, the stolen golden ornaments were found in the verandah of the house on Friday morning. It is suspected that some locals are involved in this theft. Police say that those who took the gold are not professional thieves and might have returned out of fear of getting caught by the police.
Dharmasthala police are investigating further.
