New Delhi, Sep 24: A young man who faced setbacks in his attempts to gain admission to UPSC, IIT, and IIM didn't let failure deter him. Instead, he achieved success by starting a tea business.
Anubhav Dubey, the owner of Chai Sutta Bar, is a shining example for young people to rise again after experiencing failure. His brand is now well-established in the tea franchise industry in India and abroad, boasting over 150 outlets with an annual revenue of over Rs 100 crore.
Anubhav was the son of a realtor from Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh, born in 1996. He initially aspired to follow in his father's footsteps, but success proved elusive. Despite his best efforts, he couldn't crack the entrance exams for prestigious institutions like the IITs and IIMs. He faced setbacks in UPSC and CA exams as well.
Anubhav pursued his B Com degree in Indore. During his college years, he met Ananda Nayak, the co-founder of Chai Sutta Bar. Even though Anubhav made one more attempt at UPSC, he couldn't pass the exam despite rigorous preparation.
Despite numerous setbacks in his life, Anubhav didn't lose heart. Instead, he and his friend decided to start a tea stall with a modest investment of Rs three lakh near a girls' hostel. They believed that tea would be a popular choice in a city like Indore. Due to their limited budget, they bought second-hand furniture for their stall.
Initially, the tea stall had only a few customers. However, through word-of-mouth advertising, Anubhav and Ananda attracted more patrons. They started serving tea in earthen pots (Kulhads), which became a hit. Additionally, they offered 20 different varieties of tea, catering to the preferences of young customers who sought unique options.
Today, Anubhav is renowned both nationally and internationally. He is invited to give lectures on how he transitioned from being a tea stall owner to owning more than 150 outlets of Chai Sutta Bar, one of India's most popular tea franchises. Anubhav shares his inspirational journey with management schools, serving as a source of motivation for students at elite institutions across India.
The remarkable rise of Anubhav and the success of his Chai Sutta Bar franchise serve as an example of how individuals can achieve their dreams and reach great heights despite facing numerous challenges. The key lies in self-belief, perseverance, and an unwavering "never say die" attitude.
