CBSE introduces biannual board exams starting 2024-25 academic session

New Delhi, Jan 20: Starting from the 2024-25 academic session, students in Class X and XII under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will have the opportunity to take board exams twice a year. This voluntary system aims to alleviate stress and allow students to choose the best score, offering flexibility and reducing the fear of missing a single opportunity.

The initiative is part of the New Curriculum Framework (NCF), introduced by the Ministry of Education in August last year, providing students with more time and chances to excel. Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized that the biannual exams will be optional, providing students with greater control over their academic journey.

The inaugural batch for this new format is expected to sit for the first set of exams in November-December 2024, followed by another session in February-March 2025. The final results will consider the best score from the two sessions.
