Sydney, Oct 4 (IANS): Tiger Woods, who has not won a tournament since the 2009 Australian Masters and now dropped out of the world top 50 for the first time in 15 years, will play invitational events in Perth and Melbourne in November in the run up to the Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne.

Woods, who spent much of the year tending to his knee and achilles heel and has not played a tournament since missing the U.S. PGA Championship in August, will play at Perth's Burswood Park Golf Club Nov 5 and Melbourne's Capital Golf Club Nov 7 before going to Sydney for the Nov 10-13 Australian Open.

For the 14-time major winner, it means he is not a sure selection for the Presidents Cup and was only Fred Couples' two captain's picks.

Woods will return to the US PGA Tour at this week's Frys.com Open at CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, California.

Woods dropped out of the top 50 when Louis Oosthuizen finished in a three-way tie for fifth in the Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews, Scotland.

This marked an end to Woods' streak of 778 consecutive weeks in the top 50, which he gained jumping from No.61 on Oct 13, 1996.
