Mangaluru, May 6: Three loads of waste from Bajpe Town Panchayat arrived at the Pacchanady dumping yard for disposal. However, local residents objected to the dumping of waste from the outskirts of the city in Pacchanady.
Residents of Pacchanady expressed distress over the continual dumping of city waste in their area and questioned the need to bring waste from the city's outskirts to Pacchanady. They demanded that those authorizing the dumping should establish a waste processing unit closer to their own residences.
Despite protests from locals, the Tahsildar proceeded with the dumping of waste from Bajpe panchayat limits in the yard. Residents also expressed frustration with Bajpe panchayat personnel.
Upon learning of the situation, the Mangaluru tahsildar and Bajpe panchayat CEO visited the site. It was discovered that the waste from Bajpe panchayat was dumped without permission from the Mangaluru City Corporation commissioner, leading to public outcry against the contractor involved.
