New Delhi, Jul 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin a significant five-nation tour today, marking a new chapter in India’s global diplomatic outreach. The visit will cover Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties, development cooperation, and multilateral partnerships.

The Prime Minister is set to arrive in Ghana this afternoon on the first leg of his tour. This marks his first-ever bilateral visit to the West African nation. During his stay, PM Modi will hold high-level discussions with President Nana Akufo-Addo, where both leaders are expected to review the deepening bilateral relationship and explore new avenues in economic, energy, and defence collaboration, as well as developmental cooperation.

On the second leg, PM Modi will visit Trinidad and Tobago from tomorrow. A historic visit, it aims to revitalise India’s long-standing cultural and economic ties with the Caribbean nation. The Prime Minister will meet President Christine Kangaloo and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. He is also scheduled to address a Joint Session of the Trinidad and Tobago Parliament, where he is expected to highlight India’s role as a trusted global partner and celebrate the shared Indian diaspora heritage.

From there, the Prime Minister will proceed to Argentina on Friday, where he is slated to meet President Javier Milei. This leg of the visit will focus on boosting bilateral ties in critical areas such as defence, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, trade, and investment. Both leaders will also review ongoing projects and explore new sectors for strategic cooperation.

In the fourth leg, PM Modi will travel to Brazil from July 5 to 8, where he will participate in the 17th BRICS Leaders' Summit in Rio de Janeiro, followed by a State Visit. This will be his fourth visit to Brazil. Key global issues including reform of global governance, climate action, responsible use of artificial intelligence, economic stability, and strengthening multilateralism will be on the agenda during the summit.

Concluding his tour, the Prime Minister will visit Namibia on July 9 — his first visit to the southern African nation and only the third Prime Ministerial visit from India to Namibia. PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, focusing on cooperation in areas like sustainable development, energy, and wildlife conservation, especially in the wake of recent India-Namibia ties over cheetah relocation efforts.

The five-nation visit is expected to bolster India’s strategic presence across Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, showcasing India’s commitment to being a reliable development partner and a responsible global power.
