Beltangady: 20 injured in bus-tanker collision, major disaster averted

Beltangady, May 10: A private bus collided with a tanker near Ayyappa Gudi in the town market area on Wednesday, May 9. Twenty people were injured in the accident.

The private bus was traveling from Beltangady to Karkala, while the tanker was en route from Guruvayanakere to Beltangady. Fortunately, there was no leakage from the tanker, which prevented a major disaster.

The injured individuals include bus driver Arun Kumar, conductor Aboobacker, tanker driver Sundara Gowda, and passengers Kartik, Abdul Rahiman, Yashoda, Vijaya, Vasanti, Preeti, Mamata, Kalyani, Padmavati, Raghavendra, Narayana Kulal, Nagesh Hegde, Shameena, Shaima, and Narayana Naika.

Due to the impact of the collision, the bus was pushed 10 meters back and blocked the road, also hitting an auto-rickshaw.

A case has been registered at the Beltangady traffic police station.
