Mangaluru, May 12: In a peculiar yet noteworthy incident, a viewer of a TV serial filed a complaint against an actress for not wearing a helmet during the filming of her scooter ride in a particular episode.
The traffic police acknowledged the complaint and imposed a fine on both the actress and the owner of the two-wheeler.
In the 14th episode of the ‘Seetha Rama’ serial, aired on a private TV channel, there is a scene where two women are riding on a scooter. While the rider wore a helmet, the actress riding pillion was not wearing the safety headgear.
Jayaprakash Yekkur, who observed the scene on television, lodged a complaint with the city police commissioner of Mangaluru, stating, “The said episode broadcasted on TV depicts a traffic violation. Violations by actors and actresses in TV shows convey the wrong message to the public. Therefore, appropriate action should be taken against the director of the serial and the TV channel airing the scene.”
The city police commissioner directed the complaint to the east traffic police station. Consequently, the traffic police authority issued notices to the owner of the two-wheeler and the director of the serial. It was revealed that the scene was filmed at Nandini Layout in Bengaluru. The matter was then transferred to the Rajajinagar police station, under whose jurisdiction Nandini Layout falls. The Rajajinagar traffic police imposed a fine of Rs 500 each on the actress and the owner of the two-wheeler on May 10. Additionally, the police obtained a written assurance from the director of the serial regarding adherence to traffic rules in future scenes for the show.
