Bantwal, June 3: The South West Teachers and Graduate constituency elections in Bantwal, ended smoothly, boasting an impressive 83% voter turnout in the Teachers constituency and 74% in the Graduates constituency.

Out of the 3,487 graduate voters, 2,598 exercised their right, while 744 out of 961 eligible teachers cast their votes. A single tender vote was recorded.

Voting arrangements were efficiently organised for administrative teacher voters at Bantwala T P on B C Road, while designated room numbers 7, 15, and 16 in the Taluk Administration Office catered to graduate constituency voters. Security measures were diligently implemented with the presence of Bantwal city police at the polling stations.

However, the choice of the Mini Vidhana Soudha as the polling venue inadvertently inconvenienced the public, especially those seeking services from the sub-registrar's office within the same building. Numerous individuals hoping for registration were turned away by the police, sparking frustration among them.

Suggestions were put forth to consider alternate venues like Ambedkar Bhavan or Streeshakti Bhavan for future elections to mitigate disruption to public services. Additionally, several government high schools in the taluk were granted occasional leave due to the electoral proceedings.

Few missed the chance to vote because of first day of week and timing, until 4:00 pm. If the voting would have on Saturday / Sunday and until 5:00 pm, more voters would have casted their votes.
