Mangaluru: Police arrest accused in Ullal gold theft case, recover stolen jewellery

Mangaluru, Jul 6: The police successfully apprehended the accused in a gold theft case, including two minors and three adults on Saturday July 6.

The accused arrested are Shreyas from Beltangady, Prithviraj from Urwa, and Tausif from Beltangady and two minors. The stolen gold jewellery, which had been sold to various jewellery shops in Mangaluru, was recovered. The suspects have been presented before the court, and judicial custody has been ordered for Shreyas, Prithviraj, and Tausif. A report regarding the minors involved in the case has been submitted to the juvenile justice court.

Earlier, on June 28, a 65-year-old resident of Ullal Dharmanagar, named Sridhar, reported to the police station that valuable gold jewellery, worth around Rs 15 lac, had been stolen from his bedroom cupboard. The theft occurred between 8:00 AM on June 8 and 12:00 PM on June 16. Following his complaint, a case was registered at Ullal police station.

Under the guidance and direction of the respected police commissioner Anupam Agrawal, deputy commissioner of police (crime and traffic) Siddharth Goyal, deputy commissioner of police (law and order) B P Dinesh Kumar, and assistant commissioner of police (south) Dhanya Nayak, Ullal police inspector Balakrishna and his team initiated an investigation and nabbed the culprits.
