Mangaluru: Roofing contractor dies on spot after iron rod touches high-tension wire in Surathkal

Mangaluru, Aug 10: A man died on the spot after coming into contact with a high-tension electricity wire at Krishnapura 6th Block under the Surathkal police station limits on Monday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Bhaskar, a resident of the area near Chakravarthy Stadium in Krishnapura.

Bhaskar was reportedly a contractor involved in installing sheet roofing. He was engaged in measuring the area using an iron rod while working on the construction of a sheet roof at a residential complex owned by Iqbal in Krishnapura 6th Block.

According to eyewitnesses, while turning around with the iron rod under his arm, the rod came into contact with a high-tension electricity wire passing along the nearby road. He suffered a severe electric shock and died on the spot.

Surathkal police visited the spot and conducted an inspection. Based on a complaint filed by Bhaskar’s son, a case has been registered, and further legal action is under way.
