Mangaluru, Aug 9: On the occasion of Konkani Manyata Divas, Mandd Sobhann – Konkani’s premiere cultural organization is conducting a Konkani Film Festival ‘Film Sobhann’ from August 23 to September 14.
Over a period of 23 Days, 30 Konkani Films will be screened at Mangaluru’s Bharath Cinemas, with two shows each at 4 pm and at 7 pm. The festival will include 25 feature films and 5 short films. Additionally, the festival also includes special screenings of two feature films for children.
The festival will celebrate new and old movies of both young and veteran filmmakers from Karnataka and Goa. Movies of various communities like Hindu, Christian, GSB, RSB, etc., will be screened, in an attempt to make Konkani cinema ever more inclusive. During the shows, the directors and producers of the film will be honoured.
A symposium will be held at Kalaangann on September 1 morning to discuss the challenges and possibilities in Konkani cinema. The festival is open for all enthusiasts.
