Mangaluru: Ladyhill Victoria Girls’ Composite PU College celebrates Deepavali

Mangaluru, Nov 9: Deepavali is a festival of lights and symbolizes the spiritual thought ‘Light a lamp of wisdom, dispel the darkness of ignorance’. Ladyhill Victoria Composite PU College, Urwa celebrated Deepavali at college auditorium on November 6.

The programme started by invoking God’s blessings through a prayer service and welcoming the guest by student emcees Zulaika Shahina and Jainabu Shazma of II science. The Diwali celebration was initiated with the lighting of the lamp.

The cultural programme was kick started with beautiful classical dance by the students. Namitha Shetty, TV anchor - Namma TV was the chief guest. A skit on the importance of the day about preparation and celebrations, significance and mythology and environmental concerns was enacted by the students. The skit was organized for students on the theme Diwali, the winners were announced and distributed the prizes.

The chief guest Namitha Shetty addressed the gathering and congratulated the students for their performance. She gave a brief insight about the day and inspired the students about the essence of light and its importance in life. Vanitha S, lecturer in mathematics was in charge of the programme.
