Udupi: Husband follows wife in death a day after her passing at Udyavar

Udupi, Nov 29: In a tragic incident, a couple from Udyavar passed away within a day's gap.

Lawrence D'Sa, vice president of the Udyavar parish pastoral committee, and his wife Juliana D'Sa, a government primary school teacher are the deceased.

Both were undergoing treatment in the ICU of a private hospital. Juliana passed away on Thursday, Nov 28, while Lawrence, who was in critical condition, passed away late on Friday, November 29.

Lawrence D'Souza was also a senior member of Udyavara gram panchayat. He was actively involved as an office bearer and member of local organizations such as the Lions Club and other associations.

Juliana served as a teacher in several schools, including St Francis Xavier Higher Primary School in Udyavara and other schools across Karkala and nearby taluks. For the past several years, she was a teacher at the Main Government Higher Primary School in Bailur, Karkala. Known for her simplicity, she was a beloved teacher among students. She also served as the treasurer of the Lions Club in Udyavara and had won several medals in sports.

Juliana was found unwell at her residence on November 28 morning, coinciding with her daughter's arrival from Bengaluru. She was immediately shifted to the hospital but could not recover.

The deceased couple is survived by a son, a daughter, the student community, and an extended family.

    End of life has no definite trajectory... Yet couple departing together is a real blessing... I have heard about their goods... People of their ward and many other parishioners have decided to cancel festivities of parish feast coming on 4 dec.... Great are His plans and equally blessed are those chosen... RIP ....
