Udupi: Silas Pre-University College organises 'Brain Buzz 2024'

Udupi, Dec 7: Silas Pre-University College, Nittur, hosted "Brain Buzz 2024", an inter-school quiz competition for high school students on Saturday. The event, held in the college auditorium, saw participation from over 48 teams representing more than 16 schools. The Gurukula Public School, Koteshwara, team secured the first place, while the team from Jnanasudha English Medium School, Karkala, earned the second place.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr T Rabhi Puthiran emphasised that quizzes are activities that stimulate the brain, enhancing analytical ability, learning capacity, critical thinking, and focus among students. He also highlighted the importance of inculcating values despite the current generation’s growing thinking skills and talents.

Academic director of the college, Deirdre Maben, remarked that knowledge is not confined to books but is a continuous learning process derived from everyday experiences.

Quizmaster Shaktidas, an amateur writer from Mangaluru with extensive experience conducting quizzes in various schools and colleges, organised a five-round competition for the students and distributed prizes to the winners.

The event was graced by the presence of the college trustee, Sharlet Maben; Silas International School principal, Jacinta D’Costa; and Silas Pre-University College principal, Annapurna Rao. Kaveri, a teacher from Brahmavar Government High School, and Dhanyashree, a student from Karkala’s Jnanasudha School, appreciated the college and the event.

The programme began with prayers led by Velita and her team, followed by a warm welcome by Amrutha. Arpitha introduced the guests, Nishitha proposed the vote of thanks, and Bhavana compered the event.
