Navy War Room Leak: London Court Accepts Evidence

New Delhi, Dec 20 (IANS): A district court in London has accepted the evidence presented by Indian authorities in connection with extradition of Ravi Shankaran, an accused in the Naval War Room leak case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said Tuesday.

"In its order passed Monday, the court ruled that there is an admissible case against the accused Ravi Shankaran," a CBI press release said Tuesday.

The hearing of the case is fixed for Dec 30.

Shankaran has been absconding since the CBI registered the case in March 2006.

He was formally charged along with others in a court by the CBI in July 2006.

An extradition request was sent to Britain in 2006 and an Interpol "Red Corner Notice" was also issued against him in 2006.

Shankaran was arrested by British authorities in April 2010 on the basis of the non-bailable arrest warrants issued by the chief metropolitan magistrate of a Delhi court.

The Navy War Room leak case, which came to light in 2005, related to navy officers allegedly passing on sensitive information to retired naval officers, who were middlemen for various arms firms.
