Mangaluru, Dec 14: As part of Carmel CBSE School’s community service learning programme, a group of class VII students visited the MESCOM (Mangalore Electricity Supply Company) office. The visit was organized to provide practical insights into electricity production, transmission, and distribution, while fostering curiosity, enhancing understanding, and inspiring awareness about energy conservation and career opportunities in the energy sector.
The students received a warm welcome from the MESCOM team, led by Vikram (assistant engineer) and Charan (junior engineer). They conducted an engaging and informative session, offering a comprehensive overview of the electricity supply process. The team demonstrated key equipment, explained the intricacies of power distribution, and discussed the latest innovations in the field.
The interactive session sparked keen interest among the students, especially during discussions on renewable energy and power management. The MESCOM engineers patiently answered all questions, providing clear and insightful explanations that left the students fascinated by the complexities and innovations in the energy sector.
As part of the visit, students were encouraged to reflect on their experiences by writing about their observations and key learnings. They highlighted the importance of Mescom’s role in society, shared what inspired them most, and offered suggestions to make similar visits even more enriching in the future.
