Udupi, Dec 14: The Udupi Lawyers' Association has demanded the immediate arrest of the person who assaulted advocate Rajan Kumar on December 11. Led by President Renold Praveen Kumar, a delegation met District Superintendent of Police Dr Arun on Saturday, December 14, urging swift action.

Kumar, while returning home on his scooter, questioned the driver of a Mahindra Thar (KA-20-MF-7040) near Radha Vihar Hotel when the driver attacked him. Despite a complaint being filed at Udupi Town Police Station, the accused has not been arrested after three days, prompting the Lawyers' Association to express concern about delays in delivering justice.

The association warned that failure to act could lead to widespread public unrest, as such incidents tarnish the legal system’s credibility. They also called for strict action against luxury vehicle owners causing public disturbances. If the accused isn't arrested promptly, the association threatened to organise strong protests.

SP Dr Arun assured the delegation that action would be taken immediately. Present at the meeting were key members of the association, including senior lawyers and office-bearers.
